What is the Secret to Being Healthy & Happy

It's not always easy to put your health as a priority.
We are busy, with families to take care of.
But here are a couple of tips I have for YOU!

I think the Secret to being healthy & happy is to realize that you don't have to be perfect all the time. To make it your goal to live a healthy & active life with your family, but to realize that some days you will have bad days. The key is to pick yourself right back up.

Another big key to living a healthy & happy lifestyle is to STAY IN CONTROL.  Mentally think about each decision. And if you find yourself in front of the candy or snacking aisle, for example, tell yourself that you will only buy one small candy and then get on with your day. Temptations are all around us, but knowing they don't make us feel any better in the end, and thinking ahead can make it easier on us. But with that being said, YOU will have slip ups, YOU will fail, WE all do!

So get right back to doing what makes you feel good. And take care of your body and your families.

Another very important tip, is to get into a ROUTINE of being PREPARED with a Meal Plan
the weekend before your Monday starts. So have an idea of what you will have for each meal and healthy snacks. Have a shopping list, go shopping, and right when you get home- prep your next weeks snacks and meals that you can so you are ready for the next week!.

Being prepared and have a Routine of knowing what you will do each day for exercise and what time. This is another big important decision to make. And then sometimes something will come up, out of our control, but make it a priority to get your workout in the first part of your day. Whether you get up early before work or before kids wake up. Or get it done as soon as kids have had their breakfast.

Setting yourself up for Success will help you to reach your goals.

Last TIP!

Write down your Goals! Set them to be realistic and specific and look back on them each day/week to see if you are reaching them, and if not, write down what it will take for you to reach them-
STEP BY STEP.

Knowing and applying these steps and taking it a day at a time. You will start to create some really good habits! But realizing we are all human and will have slip ups- get right back to it!

How to LOVE Healthy Food

Having a LOVE/HATE relationship with healthy food isn't good for you.
So I wanted to give you a couple of tips on how you can enjoy eating healthy and be happy that you are taking in the nutrients your body needs.

Tip #1
Eat healthy food in a variety of ways. Try cooking a veggie a different way, add different spices, use a healthy dip for them. Change up a favorite meal and make it a bit healthier. Try new foods and then try them again. Just like a child doesn't like a food for the first time, if introduced to it at least 10 times, they grow to like it, or even LOVE it!

Tip #2
Be consistent with incorporating them into your day. Buy them and don't throw them away, instead prepare them the way you like best and have them readily available when you are on the go and in your fridge.

Tip #3
Understand what nutrients your body is craving. When you are feeling hungry or even snacky, think of what food group you haven't ate from that day. If you are missing some protein, or a veggie, go to that food first. Our bodies want good nutrients, they even crave them, just as when we crave water and feel dehydrated. Listen to your body.

Tip#4
Throw out the myths you hear about healthy foods. For example, the myth that eating healthy is expensive. Buy fruits, veggies, meats, and other healthy foods when in season. Choose to not buy processed, unhealthy foods as those are just as expensive and not as filling.

Tip #5
Know the reason WHY it is important to you to eat nutritiously. Tell yourself right now what that reason(s) are and always go back to them when you are thinking about an unhealthy food, or placed before a plate full of cookies.

You can LOVE to eat healthy foods more and more each day. Make them a part of your meals, and your family will start to eat them more too.

Push yourself to be BETTER

Rhonna Designs

I just love this quote!

I have been thinking a lot lately about getting what we want in life, takes effort on our part.

We shouldn't expect it to come from anyone else.

It is our responsibility to do what we need to do, to be who we want to be.

Whatever we want out of life, we can do those things needed in order to be the kind of person we want to be.  If we want to be a nicer person, we need to think nice things and be around those who are nice- if not, well we know what we need to do.

If we want to be a more serving person where we help those around us, then we need to take those steps to think of others more and think of what they need, and then take those thoughts and put them into action.

If we want to have better health or be a better Mother, then what does that look like to you?

I challenge you to write it down today and to write down the steps it will take you to get you to be the person you want to be. Focus on the positive and do your best to be that person.

Why I decided to be a Health & Fitness Coach with Beachbody

My Story!

I gained the infamous Freshman 15 after high school, tried to lose it before I got married and that didn’t happen, and since then was never able to lose the weight. I was always hitting a plateau.  I am a mother of 3 kids, my last child was 10 lbs! I hit 170 lbs! I don't know if I am done having children yet- maybe 1 more, but I was sick of always being at a certain weight- I would lose the weight from my babies slowly after having them, but I would eventually hit a plateau! And wasn’t able to reach my goal weight so many times I tried. I would give in to my excuses of being too busy with kids and would put half of myself into going to the gym, working out and sometimes would push myself, but then fall back into my excuses. And then it would be weeks before I would go to the gym again. Vicious cycle. I was sick of hitting a plateau after a year of having my child and not getting any results.

But then I realized if I wanted to feel and look different, I had to do something different! So I knew my body would need a change and I needed to UP MY GAME! I wanted to lose more, but it wasn’t happening- I realized if I wanted different results, I needed to change something different.

I have always loved being healthy and exercising, but as a MOM- sometimes wouldn't take care of myself first. I decided to become a coach through an old friend- we reconnected and I saw all her posts and decided to ask her about it! I pretty much knew before we talked- I was in!

I had tried P90X before with my husband, was a group fitness instructor teaching TURBO KICK before kids and I was ready to make a change! I signed up almost 3 months ago and am LOVING IT! I love helping women to be healthy and to put themselves first! I started wanting to work on myself and my results first, but decided to jump in and help others as well! It has been a great way to keep myself accountable and motivated! And I have made so many new friends and reconnected with old ones along the way!

I am HAPPY to say, since starting into Coaching, and a HUGE believer in Shakeology helping my progress- I have gotten past my plateau and am at a weight I haven’t been in since high school! Most importantly I feel great and I feel like I can do just about anything I set my mind to! I love helping others to get past the mental block of “I can’t do it” And helping them reach their goals as well!

Here is my before picture when I started my Beachbody Journey in November 2014. I was ready to make a change and loose the rest of my weight and get over a plateau I have been desperately wanting to get past for a LONG time!

After picture- 10 lbs lost using Turbo Fire workouts and drinking Shakeology each morning for a meal replacement. But most importantly for me is the energy I have gained and confidence!

Stay tuned for my after picture when I am finished with my 21 day FIX journey to lose the rest of my weight and my focus of getting more in shape and toned!

I love helping others to be healthy & fit! I also love  providing support and motivation to other by giving tips, healthy meal plans, but just as important, a program that will help them to get results and get the accountability they need to succeed in their health & fitness goals.

Heart Healthy Dinner for Valentines Day

Valentines Day is my favorite time of the year- truly!

Not only do we choose to show extra special attention to the ones we love, but we get to make a very special meal for them! Taking the time to make something homemade really shows your spouse and family how much you care.

In the past I have made Chicken Parmesan, Roast & Potatoes, the famous Spaghetti.

But this year I plan on making Manicotti, our favorite vegetable- Broccoli, and some homemade Wheat Bread. And I wanted to share the recipes with YOU!

Head on over to my good Friend SHAMBRAY's Blog where you can get the recipes and the yummy dessert!

With all the yummy candy and treats that come along with Love Day, making a Healthier meal will help balance out the special day and help you to show extra love to those around you.  Life gets busy and sometimes we don't always remember to take the time to show those around us how much we really love them. ENJOY!
