6 Ways to Avoid Holiday Weight Gain

It's coming upon us! The days and days of holiday parties, treats, hustling to get Christmas presents bought and wrapped! Sometimes we put our health on the back burner. But not this Holiday! Today I have 5 ways you can Avoid Holiday Weight Gain, yet still enjoy the time with family and friends.

  1.  Bring this Fruit Tree Dish to your family Holiday gathering and surprise everyone with how healthy and delicious snacking before the meal can be. Easy and simple, green and red grapes still on their stem. Cut up in squares cheddar, swiss and colby monterey jack cheese. And then add some pretzel sticks for the trunk and rosemary twigs for the tree branches. Don't forget the cheese star on the top!
  2. Don't give up your Fitness routine. Take long walks with your family, go running with your friends. Workout at home before the parties get started. Don't put exercising and being active on the back burner as well.
  3. Stick to your Meal Plan.  This way you won't reach for those neighborhood goodies.
  4. Know why it is important for you to take care of yourself and write it down. Who is counting on you? Take care of yourself and put YOU as a priority!
  5.  Start writing down your goals if you haven't yet, this will keep your health in perspective during the holiday season.
  6. Ask a family or friend to be your accountability partner and keep in touch with each others goals. Be healthy and active together!

Happy Holidays! Hope you enjoy spending time with friends and family!

Meal Prep Steps

Today I have a fun post about how to prep for the week so that you are ready before the busy week begins.  I suggest prepping your meals as soon as you get home from the grocery store! This way it will get done and you will be ready to make your meals each day. Preparing will take less time during the week when you are rushed to get dinner on the table, or when you have a change of plans and you end up being away from home when you and your kids need a snack to tide you over.

Here are some Meal Prep STEPS to help you to be ready for your week before it creeps up on you:
  1. Print out your recipes and shopping list.  My weekly meal plan gives you recipes and ideas for each meal of the day, including snacks and it also gives you a shopping list. So make sure you print it out as soon as you get it!
  2. Have your kitchen counter cleared off before you go to the grocery store.
  3. Take food out of grocery bags and place on your cleared counter by category.
    • Put all of your fruits and vegetable with a cutting board and knife in one area. Wash and cut up according to recipe for the week.  Then bag them and label what meal it is for.
      • Cut up your lettuce into salad spinner, add veggies you want to it. Put in fridge.
    • Do the same for your meat.  Cook what meat you can, or add to a bag with other ingredients for crock pot meals! I freeze all my cooked meats and when the time is ready to make the meal, I unthaw in fridge the night before.
  4. Cook or put together any other recipe that can be store in the fridge or pantry.  For example, hummus dip or granola for yogurt parfaits. Boil hardboiled eggs, etc.
Doing these STEPS will help you so much during the week when life is crazy busy.  Watch for an upcoming post about how you can get the kids involved in helping out!

Thanks for reading,

Where do you go from HERE

Being a busy woman is what you are, it is what you have to do- RIGHT?!
So you have many priorities, those things each day that require your attention.
KIDS, RUNNING ERRANDS, FEEDING YOU and your FAMILY.
WORKING, TEACHING, LEADING.

Whatever it is that requires you to DO SOMETHING,

I CHALLENGE YOU
to take that step into the right direction each day to decide what you are going to do to better your HEALTH and prepare your days so that you are eating right, exercising and living the life you want to live.

When you work HARD, the RESULTS will come!

You are doing a great thing for YOURSELF and for your FAMILY by making a step in the right direction to wanting to be more healthy!

Making a plan of how you are going to reach your goals, whether they are short-term or long-term goals is crucial. Being specific in how you are going to achieve them is also important.

Take your journey a day at a time. Once you know your Health & Fitness goals, then take the time each day to work on them. You will have good days and bad days, but be consistent and get right back up if you fall. Failing is ok to do, it helps you to learn and grow.
Do what you need to, to get in your workout, eat something healthy for the day.

AND THEN . . .

Celebrate your progress and successes!

WHO wants to live a Healthier Lifestyle!

Many women give OF themselves more than they give TO themselves.  This is very common in a Mother. And this is very common in a woman who was made by God to nurture and multitask so that she can take care of the people in her life. So we as women, put our family first and then by the time our kids or our spouse has been taken care of, we have little time for our-self.

I love the book

 "WOMEN FIRST, FAMILY ALWAYS"

written by Kathryn Sansone

It is a great book I have read and re-read for years. If you want to borrow it let me know.
It is about how she juggles her 10 children, yet still has time for herself and her and her families health. It is a quick read and she breaks it down on how she manages her time in order to put her first, but yet take care of herself always.

So, we know it is important to take the time to do the things daily that will help our health like exercising and eating healthy, getting enough sleep, taking our vitamins, etc.

This blog will be full of healthy tips for you, support, and motivation to help you in your journey toward a healthy and happier life. My Challenge groups through facebook are more one-on-one coaching, so get with me to be added to my next one!

My weekly meal plans will also be a great benefit to you so that you have each meal planned out for the day throughout the week.  I will also be blogging about how to be consistent and plan out your weekly meals and your exercise routine.
